Hello,
I just signed up for iCloud. I have had several questions, but so far I have been able to figure out most of my questions via trial and error. This is one I am not sure about, and I hope someone here can provide insight on how to solve my problem.
Before coming to iCloud, I was using Gmail. I signed up for an iCloud account and got the typical x@me.com email address. I didn't want to get rid of my Gmail account and let everyone know that I'd changed my email, so I've been simply forwarding my mail from Gmail to my x@me.com mail address. So far so good. In Mail under "Preferences," Accounts, there is an option to send Outgoing Mail from another server, and to "use only this server". I chose the Gmail server, so not only do I get new emails forwarded from Gmail to x@me.com, but people think that I'm sending emails directly from Gmail. So far, this has been working great on my iPhone and in Mail.
Nevertheless, when I go to iCloud.com and click on Mail (like Webmail) and send an email to someone that way, it is sent with the @me.com address not x@gmail.com. This is the problem! How do I get it in iCloud to send using the @gmail.com alias too? Under Preferences in iCloud Mail, there's an option to setup Aliases, but that only allow for ones that end in @me.com. So, to recap, it's all good on the iPhone and on my Mac's Mail program for what I want to do (send mail as if I were on Gmail), just not in iCloud's Mail function.
Any idea on how around this?
Thanks a lot. I truly appreciate it.
Best wishes,
Greg
