This morning I'm looking at my iPad 4 (14.4.1) and realize that Mail has not been updated since yesterday. It says "Checking for Mail" for a very long time and eventually reports, "Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed." I check my iPhone (14.4.1). Same problem. However, on my iMac, iCloud Mail seems to be working normally. I try force rebooting the iPhone. No joy. Another suggested fix is to sign out of iCloud. I try this on the iPhone. What a mess. It takes a really long time. When it's finally done I sign in again to find that all iCloud mailboxes on my iPhone are missing except for the Inbox.. My credit cards have been removed from Wallet and have to be added; a huge time-consuming hassle but doable. When I get back to my iMac I have more chores to perform to continuing setting up iCloud.

Now, on the iPhone, if I go to [Settings -> [Me] -> Name, Phone Numbers, Email], the progress indicator simply spins forever.

Gmail and my other email account are working normally.

So, now here I am with an iPhone on which every iCloud mailbox is completely empty. I can't receive mail. I can't send mail.

So I check the web version of iCloud Mail. It never loads and after I while I get this:

At this point I've wasted well over an hour trying to fix this and am no closer than I was when I started.

Note that at this writing the Apple System Status page shows no problem with iCloud Mail,

I'm very curious as to why this glitch affects only my iOS devices and the web version of iCloud Mail, but not iCloud Mail on my 2017 iMac (Catalina) or my ancient white MacBook (High Sierra).

BTW - My wife's iCloud Mail is working fine across all of her devices.

Here's a couple more oddities:

My Apple Watch will no longer unlock my iMac. I have gone in to Security & Privacy and turned if OFF and ON again. No Joy.

I can no longer log in to my iPhone's Personal Hotspot with my iPad (WiFi only). It used to work fine. No more.

Update: Sometime this afternnoon (I was watching TV), my iPhone began receiving iCloud email. The iPod still does not receive iCloud email. I've switched back and forth between push and fetch several times.

After more than 12 hours I still can't get iCloud email with my iPad. I decided to try Spark. For that I had to get an app specific password. Here's the result on Safari for iPad:

So, I decided to get an app specific password using Safari on the iMac:

Well, eventually I got one. When I tried it out with Spark, I got this:

So, I'm still stuck.
