icloud makes multiple entries

sorry if this has been asked. when using icloud i got duplicate contacts and ical entries? what am i doing wrong? any help appreciated. thanks in advance.
 
Since they are backed up on iCloud, try turning off syncing on the affected device and re-syncing them. This seems to have helped others.
