I thinking about changing the main email account that I use (@aol.com) over to an iCloud @me.com address - essentially a fresh start for my emails.

I've got an iPad, iPhone and will be getting a MacBook pro soon. I have iCloud configured on my idevices.

How does iCloud email compare to say gmail? I presume there is good webmail access for iCloud also?

It's good, although I prefer Gmail. Certainly coming from AOL it'll probably be an improvement. :D

AOL invented the heuristic intelligence that is used in 2011 for everything from your automatic Spam traps to GCHQ analysis of what it needs to pass along to the CIA.

In its heyday, there were a lot of good brains at AOL.

It's too bad where the management took it...or wouldn't take it.

ts good but you will still have to keep your AOL email address for your iTunes receipts as you cant make your @me.com email address you primary email on your apple id if it is listed as an alternative email on your account.

I'd love to make my @me address my main address, but the reality is that gmail and hotmail both have exponentially more functionality right now. No threading for @me is maddening.

My @me.com email address is listed as a verified alternative address on my apple I'd page.

Presumably I can set the @me.com address as my primary address?

It's Good

But I retain my gmail for most things. It's useful to have another account for the odd times I prefer to keep stuff off my main account (companies, promo stuff etc)

I have it set up in Mail (which I don't use as my main email client) so it's separated from my gmail account.

Unfortunately not, as the system will recognise it as an Apple ID when you try and alter your primary email address, many people including myself are having the same problem, so like me you can by all means use the iCloud email address as your only email address BUT you will have to keep your AOL email address in order to receive iTunes receipts etc... as this is impossible to change unless its another email address that isnt a me.com one.

STUPID I KNOW, BUT THIS IS APPLE AT THE END OF THE DAY LOL
