Hi,

Does anyone know where the notes from your iPhone are stored on the iCloud site? I turned on syncing of notes in iCloud last night and it did a proper sync over night. This morning I was looking around the iCloud site to see if I could see my note there and I can't seem to find them. I did see that there is a notes folder in the mail section but there are no notes in that folder.

Are the notes accessible from iCloud or are they just like the data backup and you just have to trust Apple that they are properly backed up and will be restored when needed?

It would be nice to be able to review and modify the notes on the computer and keep them synced with the phone.

Thanks,

Matt

Ok I think I answered my own question. The notes are synced instantly to the notes folder in the mail app on iCloud.com. The reason I did not have any notes in there is because they were deleted some how when I enabled note syncing to iCloud on the iPhone. Fortunately I had a copy of the notes because I was syncing them to gmail.

FYI... be careful when turning on syncing in iCloud because some of your stuff might just turn up missing.

Yes, be very careful...

I had a somewhat similar situation.

I upgraded to iOS 5.0 on both my iPhone 4.0 and iPad 2. I take many, very lengthy notes on my iPad and I like to keep them sync'd in Outlook and on my iPhone for sharing, emailing, etc. I've been having to sync my iPhone and iPad both with my PC notebook to get everything on all units, but it worked. That is until iCloud...

Something with the iCloud setup and sync deleted several recent notes from my PC (Win 7). They showed up on the handhelds, but not the notebook. 5 hours of mesing around this morning couldn't rectify the situation, so I ended up deleting my iCloud account from both the iPad and iPhone. I also had emailed the missing notes to myself. These were pasted into new notes and sync'd with my PC, so now I have copies on all three devices.

Thank goodness I only had 4 documents missing. The Notes part of iCloud, as has been mentioned by many, is very lame, being a part of the mail part of iCloud. One can create new notes on the web, but they're treated as an email.

I think my iCloud account is going to sit idle for a few months until Apple decides if they really want it to be useful or not. Right now, it isn't...

Tony,

Yeah I finally just went back to Gmail syncing my notes that are already are in the note app. Going into the future I'm just going to use Evernote for my note taking needs. There are a lot of really nice features in Evernote that make it so much better than the note app.

Hello, I am about to receive my new ipad mini and would like to transfer all my iphone 4s (ios 5) notes to my new ipad.

I have iCloud enabled on my iphone but use it only for contacts. Will i still be able to transfer the notes if i enable Cloud sync for notes on both my iphone and the ipad? Tenx a milion.

I like Apple Notes, but unfortunately iCloud is suffering from issues that remain to be sorted out. Therefore I continue to rely on Evernote, which is actually an excellent solution. They're about to release a new app for iOS, that should be excellent as they have a great track record.

I'm looking forward to the day Apple finally begins to understand cloud services. They have a long ways to go, yet with nearly unlimited resources sooner or later they should get it right.
