just a quick question (sorry if it sounds a bit ignorant) about icloud and what exactly gets transferred !!

I have 3 phones, 1 ipad and a macbook all using 1 itunes account !! My wifes, my daughters and mine !! now for instance if I take a photo, video or add a contact on my phone, will this automatically update on both the other phones and devices ??

surely there are times when you wouldn’t want something transferred automatically ?? weather its doing it yourself or even getting your device updated automatically ?!??

just wanted to understand it properly before i start setting it up !!!

Only if PhotoStream is turned on in Settings > Photos

And btw videos won't be uploaded to the cloud, only pictures.

And for contacts, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars

Add an account or go into the account, and you can individually select which features you want on. And which accounts you want logged in. Each phone can have their own account to keep contacts etc separate. But you can all use the same Apple ID to buy Apps that is different from the email/contacts account you log in each device with.

Hope that helps.

I have the same situation, but the good news is you can have an iCloud account for each device, but still use your Apple ID account for syore purchases etc.

When you update it will ask you to sign for a new account to be used with iCloud. You can then change the store account in your setting for each device.
