I need to know which provider is better for a "Free" email for my Mom?
She wants to keep her beginning address and Gmail doesn't have that name available so I'm torn between the two. Which is more reliable? I don't want to giver her an ISP email as she wants to cancel her current ISP

With iCloud coming in the Fall what advantage does a ME email address have?

Thanks:)

Just use GMail. It's far superior to any other webmail service.

lol nice to see you read that the OP doesn't want to use GMail.......

Hotmail is good enough, i've used it for over a decade now, got it set up via exchange on my iDevices so i get push email.

i'm using iCloud to do calenders, contacts and that tho.

hotmail is superior to gmail

How so?

The last time I used hotmail, the interface was aweful, they did not provide much storage and it was generally slow. Admittedly this was a couple of years ago.

Well, the interface for one. Advantages over gmail there include drag and drop and a preview window, neither of which come with gmail. Hotmail also has skydrive, which provides much more space than Google does for free. Other aspects are personal taste. For example, I prefer folders to gmail's tagging.

Hotmail has come along way in the past 2-3 years, and it's currently better than gmail, imo. Most people just assume gmail is better because it's trendy to say so.
