I have a MBP. When I open Photos program on my MBP, all photos download onto the computer from the phone via iCloud photo stream and are then physically stored on my computer. I've recently run out of my 5GB allowance on iCloud. On my iPhone, if I delete my iCloud backup photos, I will still keep the photos on my computer, but then will start a fresh 5GB on iCloud to begin backing up new photos, right? I'm fine deleting the iCloud stored photos every 5GB just to keep from paying to upgrade storage space. Will this work the way I've described?

If you have iCloud photo library turned on then as soon as you delete them on your phone they'll get deleted from your computer too...

If you don't want to keep all your photos on your phone, the best thing to do is turn iCloud photo library off on your phone and computer and turn on Photostream on your phone and computer. Photos will then be added to your local library on your computer via Photostream but won't be stored on iCloud so won't use your space up

How many photos are uploaded via Photostream? A certain number or amount of data?

But any photos that are already on my computer will NOT be deleted right?

Why don't I see Photostream on then Photos app on my Mac?

Hmm...let me look. My gf and I use shared albums to add photos from events, then I delete the shared album and keep the pics on my MBP.

Just keep the shared library. It doesn't count towards your storage space.

Well, I'd still like to know the answers to these questions:
