first and foremost, hello!

I've used the iCloud photo web interface to create photo albums. When I go into an album and upload a photo from my computer it doesn't place the photo in the current album, instead it uploads the photo to 'all photos' and I then have to find the photo and manually add it to the album. This is a real pain as the photos are displayed in date ordered and are often scattered about.

Is this behaviour a bug?

What you need to do is select the pics directly from the photos area. Onc selected you add them from there. If you attempt to add anything in the folder area it adds incorrectly (as you have found)

Thank you for assisting however I'm not sure I follow!

Whether I upload from the photos screen or within the album itself it doesn't make a difference. I see the photo upload progress at the bottom of the window but get no option to choose an album to upload to.

Be sure that you are in the "Moments" or "All Photos". Click on the photos or photos you want to move to the existing or new album. Click on the "+" and select add to album. You should have an option to select an existing or create a new album. Its easier if you have the sidebar active. Go to "View" and select "Show sidebar" . You have to have either "Photos" at the very top highlighted or under "Albums" select "All Photos". Wish I could attach a pic so show you. Its not very intuitive at first and its certainly not user friendly.

I'm following your instructions however I still get no option to upload photos to an album! I click upload, select the photos and it just uploads them straight to 'all photos'. I get no option to select and album, nothing! This is on my up-to-date MacBook Pro .
