Hey guys,

New to the forum but thought this would be a good place to go....

It has recently come to my attention that videos taken on my iPhone X seem to degrade in quality once uploaded/downloaded to iCloud Photo Library.

I noticed a difference in the way my videos look and put it to the test by airdropping a recently taken video to my iPad and comparing it side by side with the same version which had been pushed down from iCloud Photo Library.

The difference is most startling when watching the videos side by side but I’ve illustrated even on a zoomed in screenshot of the two videos here:

Original video: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eoq9K1FZc09t0PBYxlRzAO2xi-Q2HK7p
Video on iCloud Photo Library: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WVpVsPc4IkrEtqZTc0U-5fRKlDdwGV1R

iCloud Photo Library is sold as keeping everything in original resolution but clearly there is a degradation in quality shown above. If the ‘optimise storage’ option is selected then it would also seem that this is a destructive process whereby quality of the videos taken cannot be retained. Am I right??

Can’t find anything online about this so any guidance would be appreciated.
