I switched to iCloud Photos a bit over a month ago and successfully uploaded/synced around 16000 items across my devices. Today I noticed I couldn't find a few photos that I was SURE were there a week ago, low and behold 4300 random photos had been moved to the "Recently Deleted" section and were scheduled for permanent removal in 27 days.

That means they were "deleted" 3 days ago, when i wasn't even in town/my desktop mac was off and I definitely wasn't using photos on my iPhone (w iOS11).

I'm lucky I found them in time but this has really got me worried now re risking all my items in the cloud.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Your experience is an example of why I would not use "the cloud" with which to "store" my photos... :(
