Hi all,

I have a strange issue with my iCloud photo library not affecting my total storage on iCloud and was wondering if anyone could explain whats going on here?

As you can see from the picture, my Photo Library is 44.8GB however I am only using 4.1GB out of my 200GB!

Are they not being stored at full resolution. Think you can set that feature in iPhotos?

There's no setting for how you want to upload them to iCloud. Plus as you can see from the screen shot, they are full res are they should be taking up 44GB of space.

It might be just your iPhone misreporting the storage status - try checking it online or on another device instead to see if it tallies.

I had the exact thing happen. Turning on iCloud Photos increased the available space by what the photos took in the backup, but the space never decreased as the pictures were being uploaded.

Although now I have another issue. I don't want to use iCloud Photos anymore because it messed up my workflow rather than simplifying it, but no matter how much space I free up on the phone it just never downloads the full resolution pictures and videos despite turning off "optimise storage" - and I have plenty of free space for all of it. I can't help but wonder if the two are connected somehow...

Did you manage to figure out what was happening?

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to the forum.

Yes, it sorted itself out after a couple of days. The amount of storage it should be taking up has now been properly deducted from my iCloud storage.
