Hello all! Just a quick question in regards to iCloud photos. I’m thinking about moving all my photos over and utilizing iCloud for my photo storage.

I have about 20k photos on my Mac where they stay. I keep some on my devices but they all end up on the photos app of the Mac.

If I turn on iCloud photos, will the photos physically stay stored on my Mac as well? Or do they get erased?

I assume erased to save storage space?

I guess what I like to do is send all my photos to the cloud so I can view them from my devices, but still have them physically stored on my Mac. In case I change my mind or decide not to use iCloud for this purpose.

I have all my photos on two external g drives but would like to get them all in the cloud. I pay for 50gb of storage already so I have the room.

Thanks!
