iCloud Photos is driving me nuts, every time I either restart my iPhone (6S) or even add a few photos, the iPhone then spends hours syncing, getting hot and draining my battery. Looking at the Battery stats in settings I currently have 30% of my battery drained in the last few hours and 'Photos - Background Activity' is the culprit at 44% use in the last 24 hours - Is there no way to switch this damn background activity off? Quitting the app does nothing, I'm getting to the point of thinking of ditching iCloud photos from my phone and just using Photostream again instead . . . . any suggestions appreciated - thanks

Have all of your photos/videos uploaded the first time since turning it on?

Yes they were all uploaded a long time ago, showing across all my devices fine, it's just that any change or reboot seems to start it all syncing like crazy again, even if I haven't uploaded or changed anything. I do have a large library of 42,000 photos but that shouldn't make any difference once they are all uploaded. I have the iPhone set to only show the thumbnails too (optimized) - thanks
