Icloud Photos wont turn on M1 MBA

Hey guys , Just picked up a MBA M1 yeterday... I cant seem to turn on photos in Icloud... It asks for system password , I enter the password, and still wont check the photos to download from the cloud! Logged in and out of Icloud, still wont take the photos from the cloud.. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Have other apps that use iCloud downloaded your data?

Having the same issue here, tried everything I could think of and it doesn't seem to work. Couldn't find anything online for troubleshooting steps
