iCloud photostream resized my photos!

The problem started when I was puzzled why iPhoto on my iPad2 doesn't show the geotag info of the photos in the iCloud Photo Stream, while those photos' geotags show up fine on iPhoto on my Mac. Then I saw that they are only 2.8MP when they are supposed to be 5MP (taken with my iPhone4). This is not good. The only way for me to push the real photo is to beam it directly from my iPhone 4. What's the point of iCloud then?

Yes - I was just about to come on here and post the same thing. It's been happening to me for the pics I took with my iPhone 4s.

I believe Photo Stream has been this way since day one. Your Mac or PC will get the full resolution photo but your iOS device will only get a re-sized photo.

Spot on. The iOS devices get images "optimized" for the device.

Yes PC and Mac desktop's get the full-rez photos. Your iPhone and iPad get optimal versions of it.

Just discovered this too - a real bummer

I do a lot of photography on my iPhone 4s. I like to edit those pictures on the bigger screen of the iPad. The easiest way to have my images appear on the iPad for editing is the magic of iClould and Photostream.

But with this automatic resizing, I am losing valuable pixels that lower the quality of the final image, especially if you make prints from photos. Maybe prints are an anachronism in Cupertino, but I still like them.

I guess I will need a different strategy to port the images over from my iPhone to the iPad. Lets see ....I'll let Photostream copy them full size to my laptop, then I'll create folders, set up the sync, and get them on the iPad that way. Way too many steps and not a very elegant solution.

A setting that allows you to select full size photostreaming would be much appreciated!

I have the Camera Connection Kit and it does NOT work with the iPhone, only the iPad.

^ Yeah, the CCK can read from the DCIM folder (ie. where snapped and saved photos are kept) on other iOS devices.
