I updated my iCloud storage this morning on my iPhone, and immediately, just after pressing the purchase button, my home phone rang with a recorded call about fraudulent activity on my iCloud account... the caller ID showed the 800 number for Apple Support. I did not press “1” as instructed, nor was my iCloud account locked as the message warned. I just hung up. I knew it was a fraud because Apple Support does not contact you.

My concern is the “coincidence” of the fraud call immediately following my change to my iCloud account, and that it came on my landline phone. Could they somehow be monitoring my account activity?

I receive a lot of Microsoft Support fraud calls, but never Apple Support calls. The timing of call was just too coincidental to be coincidence.

If you’re worried about it I would change your password and turn on two-factor authentication if you don’t have it on already. Also go in to iCloud settings and check for any devices that are logged in that you don’t recognize.

I’m not worried. Both my AppleID and iCloud accounts are clean and secure.

It’s possible that could’ve been triggered by my credit card activity. I know the call centers are mostly overseas (I should have pressed “1” to see if the accent was Indian or Filipino).

I was an IT Mac support professional for 18 years. Granted, this was on my iPhone, but same difference.
