Hello,

Have never even thought about iCloud any, but apparently there is a file
that has been placed there by another party that I would like to access.

If I go to my iCloud, it tells me storage is full, and wants me to purchase more.

But nothing I try, or anything on my iCloud, seems to allow me to actually see
what is actually stored in it presently.

How, please, do I do this; the accessing of what is now in my iCloud ?

Old age problem, so very specifically would be appreciated.

Thanks, much appreciated.

I would start by using the web browser interface to view what is in your iCloud. This avoids confusion with iCloud settings on your Mac.

In Safari, go to https://www.icloud.com/ and login. Note carefully whether the password request is for your Apple ID password or your user password on your Mac.

Choose the "Drive" button (with a cloud) to see what is in your iCloud.

This sounds dangerous, very much like a scam.

How have you been informed that there is a file waiting for you there at iCloud? If you have never used iCloud, this sounds very suspicious. Do you know the person who says that they have put a file there for you? If not, it is even more suspicious.

It sounds particularly "fishy" when you go to iCloud and are told that you need to buy more storage.

Be VERY careful here. This sounds dangerous!

Good point. This may just be from the rather vague wording used by @Robert4. So:

If I go to my iCloud, it tells me storage is full, and wants me to purchase more.
Please you tell us how you went to your iCloud?

but apparently there is a file
that has been placed there by another party that I would like to access.
Another party: Who is the "party"? A close friend? Please be specific as possible.
A file: what file?
Apparently: How did it appear? How did you become aware of the need to get this file?

Can you make some screenshots, so that we can see what it looks like: we do not trust it.

The reality is that the Internet/web is a pretty dangerous place unless you are very careful. It is crawling with scammers trying to steal your credentials, your money... anything of value.

For example, yesterday and the day before I got an email informing me that it was urgent that I review the file that had been loaded into my "cPanel Storage Drive" (whatever THAT is ... never heard of such a thing!). The keyword was "urgent". When it says it is urgent... it is not! It is a scam almost every time.

Today, I received TWO of these emails, from the same sender, this time informing me that my email password was about to expire and that it was ... you guessed it ... Urgent... that I validate my password immediately or else I would lose access to my account. They provided a "convenient" link for that very purpose. Again that word... urgent. That, and the fact that the account they quoted was not one I recognized! CLEARLY a scam.

As they used to say at the start of "Hill Street Blues", "hey, hey, hey, be CAREFUL out there!"

I only worry when I do not get that kind of emails for a long time .....
..... but then my wife appears to get them on her Mac.

I understand! I spot them right away, but I enjoy reading them through; some of these scammers are incredibly inventive and go to great lengths to convince you that they are legitimate. It is fun to look at what they are doing and learn from it. When you don't get any for a few days, I almost miss them!

If people only had a look at the sender url ...... the world would be much safer.
