I had to replace my iPhone 4S recently (hardware problem) and so I'm doing a restore from iCloud. My iCloud backup is 1.9 gb. At the Apple Store, the estimated time was 3 hours, but it went so slowly I decided to go home and restore my phone there. My home wifi is ~3 mbps and the iCloud restore is taking a long time still (it's making slow progress, estimated tim ~4 hours) Is anyone else's iCloud backup taking so long to download?

It will completely depend on your internet connection, as well as the load on the servers.

I realize that, and so I'm wondering if there's something going on with the load on the servers because the internet connection at the Apple Store was very strong, yet my restore went incredibly slow. I was wondering if anyone else was having similar problems with their iCloud backups.

One thing you need to realize is while your back up is 1.9gb, it is not a single file. Rather, it has to download each app individually, then your data, music, etc. each of theses has to "install" separately. This does take time.

I recommend, just using the phone the first day as is, then do a restore at night while sleeping.

And 1.9GB is not an insignificant amount of data to download over the internet, especially on a connection that's likely being hammered by plenty of other things/people in the store, strong wi-fi signal or not.
