Hey everyone,

Just got my X, restoring but its not going forward. Apps are not loading. Too many people using iCloud at once? Anyone else have this issue?

I don't know how more people aren't reporting this issue. I tried it both ways: restore from iCloud and restore from a "backup" on my computer. But the backup on the computer doesn't have any of the apps, probably because they removed apps from iTunes. Almost all of my apps are dark, or stuck in the middle of downloading. IMO it's a terrible change. iPhone upgrading used to be painless.

Agreed. I’m on hold with Apple chat trying to figure this out. Sucks!

Force touch the app, hit cancel download. Redownload if necessary (mine all just turned ready after doing that to each one)

I left my iP7+ Doing a ~50GB backup to my old (2011 USB2 super slow) MacBook Pro the night before launch. It completed alright, but it was on 11.1 My iPX came with 11.0 or 11.0.2 iirc. The iPX immediately tried to download and update to 11.1 OTA on its own. I finally got it stopped and managed to do a wired update and restore backup which took ~3 hours to complete. When it was done restoring, all my apps appeared as “loading” I wasn’t able to tap in to anything at all other than locking and unlocking the phone. Couldn’t even answer a call! I hard rebooted up/down vol plus side button. After the restart, it was good-loaded all my apps. But what’s the point of a 50GB backup file if it doesn’t install everything!?!? You’re right it used to be more painless. I’m gonna be cross posting this in another thread I’m gonna start called “iPhone X Laundry List”

Well I eventually just set it up as a new phone, and lo and behold, the apps will load normally from the App Store. There was just something in the borked backup restore that kept the apps from actually downloading. Anyway, because photos and everything are in iCloud, the only other thing I have to restore are iMessages.

When you set it up as New, do all your apps still load in their spots or rather do they load randomly? Cause at this point, I’d rather do a clean install of 11.1 and setup as New (if the apps will load in place) and then sync music etc.

Unfortunately, when you set up as new, none of your apps load at all. You have to go into the App Store and reload them. It’s a real pain and you’d lose saves on games and things that aren’t in the cloud, but the upside is that it’s a clean install.

shrugs...
I seem to have it licked for the most part EXCEPT for iCloud Tabs are still showing on my iPad from my ip7+ and not my iPX. Driving me NUTTY cause I remember going thru this before and I don’t remember the solution.
