And what is the NC data center we had to read about for years on here for ?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/02/icloud_runs_on_microsoft_azure_and_amazon/

Guess people will keep speculating about some new "cloud" product and like I thought, the NC data center has been operational for a long time doing internal and external facing systems.

Seriously folk, the NC data center wasn't sitting there waiting for iCloud, that much is obvious.

Old news. We first heard about it when iCloud was activated.

And the explanation is an obvious and perfectly innocuous one of you think about it. In fact it's normal practice.

Redundancy, backup and access nodes, and also until Apple get's their data centre fully up and running.

But yes, at first blush it does seem a bit funny.

Wait, no comment about Steve Ballmer?

So in the end they will be Mac boxes running OS X?

I'm really not sure, but the data centre was built for a purpose.

That purpose was to serve the end user or to showcase that Apple somehow came up with superior cloud server technology from the ground up? Apple is going to pick AWS or Azure.

Can you imagine the fuss LTD and others would make if MS was found out to be relying on Apple technology? At least MS eats their own dig food.

I believe there is a post of ltd going all nuts about ms employees using the iPhone. If memory serves me the number was below average of the general population. They tended to go with the other os but that did not stop ltd from making a huge deal about it.

I saw a few Apple Store employees using Windows phones recently. Made me laugh.

Anybody remember from last year or the year before where Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt were sitting at an outdoor cafe talking. The conversation went some thing like :

Steve : It doesn't matter where it comes from as long as the consumer gets it.

Or something to that effect.

It doesn't matter as long as it is delivered correctly.

Azure and Amazon use good tech. As does Apple.

These companies work closer together than most people think.

AWS I can see. But who in their right mind would use Azure. :D
