Yes, if you're trying to view emails from http://www.icloud.com you will frequently be stuck with being unable to load your freaking mailbox. Jesus christ, you would of thought they learnt from previous mistakes but no, it's still the same old crap, I'm never using this stupid service ever again, I swear.

Jesus christ Apple, so much for ripping our asses with your overpriced products and you can't have a freaking decent mail service. And no, I don't want to use an email client and no longer own a Mac. I want a decent webservice just like gmail, hotmail and yahoo. These three are 10 times better than iCloud in every possible way, yes, they are.

It's pretty simple. You don't like it, dont use it.

I never log into iCloud.com to use email. I use my Mail app and it works perfect.

Keep in mind that iCloud is brand new and still in beta. Give it some time before you can rely on it 100%.
 
Bro, iCloud is almost from 2000. It's just a simple rebrand of MobileMe and .Mac. They never really improved anything to be honest. I just don't understand with all that money in their pockets, how can they not make a serious web client.

And yes, I don't like it and won't use it. But I did feel like ranting about it, because I paid for it (MobileMe), and it's retarded.
 
im amazed at how poorly iCloud.com functions. when it functions at all. the iCloud itself is fine as long as you interact with it from an iDevice. the online site blows...so slow...so very very slow....

you are expecting way too much from a FREE service! I would say why not use google services they are 100 times better amirite? :rolleyes:

Then why is it an issue? You have options...exercise them.

Says more about you than the service.
 
Well, I never had any trouble using iCloud on the website. It's a bit slow, but not really a problem unless you have someplace go or something to do. It gets the job done.

But overall, it's really made for iDevices, and having the ability to manage it on your Computer is just a Bonus. So if you don't like the experience, simply use it on your iDevice and enjoy the experience there.

It's still early in development, so expect it to be worked on some more for the Computer Experience.
 
I actually never had this problem...while I did notice iCloud's webmail a bit slower than 'other' webmail clients, it's always loaded up for me.

One of my gripes about iCloud, however, is that it doesn't have any way to use the space like Dropbox. The only thing I'm really using the space is with iCloud backups...seems like a huge waste of space to me... I'm a MobileMe subscriber soooo have 25GB to play around with...but not being able to actually 'use' it properly sucks.

I was also expecting improvements in the web client in the move from MobileMe to iCloud.

The interface is great. The performance is often "okay", definitely not fast, and sometimes is quite slow or just doesn't work. Several times per week sending a message from the web client results in a "server" error.

Yeah yeah it's "FREE" (although I've been a paid MM user for a while) and yeah yeah we have options. But I expected better after all the hype and I definitely expected better by now, several weeks after launch.

AND, there are the merging multiple Apple ID issues that haven't been addressed and makes it really complicated for shared family accounts.

Just a little rant here, all done now. Everything's amazing and nobody's happy.
 
I for one am frustrated how they pulled all the services apart.

Log into iCloud for mail, calendar, and contacts as well as find my iphone

They left us hanging with iDisk and Mobile Gallery, also the fact that you must have Lion on my Mac to be able to sync email, cal, contacts, bookmarks, etc is just dumb.

They should have created iCloud and given folks the option of using it, when I bought my 4S I had no choice but to upgrade my service to iCloud, and since then, email is flaky and at times unavailable at times, and the fact that I have to run two Macs, one using SL for everyday on my uMB, and another 2011 mini with Lion to sync everything, is just annoying me.
 
iCloud is the same old MobileMe crap in a new wrapping. I set it up today and it immediately produced 10 dupes of every repeating calendar event , the same reason why I quit using MobileMe. It also completely screwed up my Outlook 2011 for Mac calendar (dropped all but my all-day appointments and events) and caused a myriad of other problems.

I paid for extra storage space -- so I feel completely suckered by Apple. Frankly Apple is looking more and more like Microsoft every day, and this from a one loyal Apple fan. No more.

My advice to others is not to waste your time and money on this lemon.
 
fine for calendar, contacts and reminders, backups have worked too. As others have said, if you don't like it, dont use it.

Yeah, that's a great advert for iCloud - "If you don't like it, don't use it". It reminds me of the heady days of 'New Coke'. I'm sure Apple marketing will be all over that one.

Surely the point of Apple is that their products should be useful. iCloud is not. I have had to disable the damned thing because it can't connect to much I actually use and the stuff it can connect to, it screws up! It holds out the promise of endless connectivity and storage, but it gives me the ability to store only from programs I don't use and an inability to effectively connect to anything beyond Apple's borders.

And I do NOT use iCloud - but it's not like that makes it disappear. It's still there on my iPhone, taking up resources.

Apple's reputation is based on innovation and usefulness. iCloud is neither innovative nor useful. To suggest that we should just 'not use it' is ridiculous and insulting. Bad products need to be criticized, not supported. If Apple supported all its worst decisions, the company would never have moved beyond making PCs.

iCloud needs either a major revamping or it needs to be scrapped. Anyone who says otherwise is not helping the situation, or Apple.

No one ever helped a company be all it could be by refusing to criticize a bad product. Blind optimism does not help companies - it destroys them.

Bad products should be criticized, yes, with positive suggestions to make it better (thats the support bit)

Point I was making is that everyone is saying it's **** and there's better things out there - use them.

I used icloud for backups, it works for me, so I use it. I've had to swap my iphone a couple of times and each time the backup was restored on the fly and all my important things (contacts, calendar) was on the phone in moments and I was on my way, and cross-iDevice it works, again, for me.

As I do not have a Lion-compliant mac at home, icloud is a big disappointment, so I don't use it there, I use something else.

Actually as far as I'm concerned, for the mail side of things, the web interfaces for iCloud, gmail, and yahoo mail are all subpar and somewhat bloated in how they implement features. Like in the cases of many products "new and improved" seems to be a step backward.

I mainly use Apple Mail (in Classic format) and avoid the web interface for iCloud mail, so my perception of the web interface may be off, but I don't like it.

The web interface for iCloud in general is kinda slick in how it operates, but it's broken in how you move between various pieces of iCloud. However, slick does not mean the general layout/format of things is good in my opinion. It just means I can appreciate a portion of something done well even if other parts stink.
 
I don't generally have a problem with iCloud. I still use my .me email address, but I really don't have any use for the features that are left.

I was happy to pay for MobileMe service for the web hosting alone. I'm kinda bummed that they took that away, but I never went to the MobileMe site so I'll probably never go to iCloud.

I do agree that they should have left MobilMe alone and made iCloud and optional service.

oh well.

Go log into Yahoo Webmail right now and tell me that in a straight face. Yahoo! Mail is truly awful.

Sure, iCloud is far from what I think many people hoped it might be (I'm pretty sure Apple will continue to improve it). I've not had the Mail issues that you describe and use it daily, is it possible it could be a browser/configuration issue causing it to not function?
 
what browser are you trying to access icloud.com from?


the interface may look the same but I'm pretty sure iCloud is an HTML 5 site which was not being used in 2000
 
I agree - the email sucks and doesn't seem to be improving much. But I don't really care as there are so many other choices. I have a gmail account, an account with Verizon (my isp) and a work Exchange server. On my iMac, iPad, iPhone and work Windows laptop I just use the native apps on each and have no issues.
