I've started using iCloud and copied a folder containing documents over to iCloud.

The folder is 2GB large. When i have copied over the folder to iCloud and then launch the files app then nothing is visible in the app, it is completely blank.

Is this a bug in iCloud or does it take time to sync between iCloud and iPhone?

Obviously. Syncing 2GB takes somewhere between 30min to 3 hours (I am not kidding) depending on the number of files and file sizes. Even if your files are already in the cloud, it still takes some time on your iPhone to populate.

Thanks for your reply.

Ok, so it takes so long to syncing? Are there better alternatives to iCloud? how does Dropbox and OneDrive works? Do they sync faster than iCloud?

I tried to logout from iCloud on my iPhone and then login again to see if it will sync. But this didn't work either. What's wrong with iCloud??

There is no such a thing called “faster alternative” if your home internet only allows 1Mbps upload speed anyway. I am not saying yours is that speed, but highlights the importance of upload bandwidth.

Dropbox and OneDrive works a bit differently as they both needs their own app and account to perform syncing, rather than an integrated experience like iCloud. You can try them out and see which one suits your ISP better.

I have no idea why iCloud sync is slow. Maybe Apple does not optimise it enough yet.

This is a known problem with iCloud, and as of 13.1.2, it hasn't been fixed. It's been a problem for many releases... when I upload small files to iCloud, it's usually hours/days until it shows up on my iPhone. It's very frustrating because it's a problem that's been around a long time and Apple won't address it.

I have been resolved this issue by using Reset All Settings. It need sometime (in my case around 5 hours) before it started synchronization. Just wait. After that, it worked back to normal.
