My internet wouldn't be the fastest anyway just 8mb but when for example I take a photo on my iPhone, it then starts to sync over wifi my internet becomes unusable, so much so I can't even do a speedtest as icloud is hogging the entire bandwidth.

I am just home from vacation, came home turned the wifi on and my internet wouldn't work for over an hour as up synced photos and videos,

Does anyone else have this issue or is there anything that can be done?

This has to do with your router, usually. Basically, when you upload it's buffering a lot of data on the way out. Your other network traffic gets stuck behind this buffering and is slowed down greatly. It's called buffer bloat.

The solution is to find a well-engineered router + cable modem combination that doesn't have this problem. My setup at home doesn't have buffer bloat issues, but is a bit complex, involving a non-router cable modem and a Linux router, so I'm not too good at advising a simple solution to buy, but if you look online and research "fixing buffer bloat" on Google you're bound to find some solutions.

Buffer bloat is a big problem and it's been getting the increased attention it needs fairly recently, so it should get a lot better with new hardware in the near future. If you're using very old networking hardware that's likely the cause.

u need qos (everyone needs qos, even if u have 100mbps down/up), if ur router supports ddwrt/openwrt/lede/gargoyle/tomato, flash it, enable qos with fq_codel if possible
