iCloud v Dropbox v SugarSync

Hi,

I know that iCloud is new and not released but for the developers out there, will or does iCloud support folder syncing like dropbox or better yet like sugar sync where you can pick which folders to sync across devices. I write music and use Reason and Logic and would like to be able to keep my music composition in sync when I travel - I'd like to keep it in the apple family but can deal with using sugar sync.

Based on what Apple has said so far, and what beta testers have said, no iCloud does not offer a Dropbox like service to sync folders. Apple has talked about a developer API, so maybe that is something a dev. can release an app for later?

The dev API for iCloud is the ability to make database records (key + text/hash data). It can't be used for files but rather text information.

I can't claim to know the details of the API, but I have read for example you can store a Pages document on iCloud, so it does appear to allow file storage.

There are two. The one you mentioned for very small data store and one for documents.

for your needs Dropbox would be the best solution. Never had an issue with symbolic linking folders into Dropbox.

Sugarsync is slow, and costs real money.
