So what do you think of iCloud so far?

As somebody who's only been using an iPhone for just over a year and the 4S since October, I don't find iCloud to be too functional.

-All of my contacts, calendars, and e-mail are synced through Gmail on all of my devices anyways, so it really plays a small role in my lineup. Formerly my notes were synced through Gmail as well, but I'm currently trying to migrate to Evernote for that.

-I don't use PhotoStream since it's so limited in what you can do (e.g. you cannot delete anything from PhotoStream... it's either all there or all not, and I don't want it that way). Instead I use DropBox because I can select which photos to upload, when to upload them, and can keep them organized as I go, and still have them synced to all of my devices.

-Keeping music and purchases synced across all devices is already done through the iTunes account so that's nothing new.

-I don't utilize the wireless sync feature as I prefer to sync manually with my device plugged in so that I know when/what the phone is syncing.

So overall, iCloud doesn't really add any functionality that couldn't have been attained before. Maybe eventually it'll become more robust but for now, I have no use for it.

You don't leave too much middle ground in your poll.

I've used apple's services since it was called iTools and found it to be varying in utility and usefulness. The latest incarnations of MobileMe and iCloud have been less then stellar. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I find that apple needs to do a lot of work to improve it. Stability and performance are lackluster, features and usefulness are questionable. The best thing they did is drop the price, because in this day and age, its hard for any company to charge for the services of MobileMe, so in going to iCloud it was a smart move by apple to make it free

I'd have appreciated a middle-ground between love and hate as well.

I had MobileMe, and almost love iCloud, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

I like it in some ways, but there needs to be a folder/location on Macs like with Dropbox for iWork files instead of having to upload/download files constantly to the website. And, I find the website to be very slow and unhelpful.

iCloud's biggest feature is seamless sync imo. Since no application that I use supports it yet (no application on OSX at all?), it is too early to tell if I like or hate it. Still, iCloud's launch was a fail if you ask me.

Since I do not use iDisk or the other things dropped from MM I am happy with iCloud. For me the Sync between my Mac Mini, Macbook Air, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones is the best solution available for me.

I agree that iWork needs to sync better, but I disagree with having a certain folder. I think that you should be able to right click on any iWork document in the finder and you'll have an extra "Send to iCloud" option and that's it. It's not in iCloud. If you move the document, the computer will keep track of that iCloud will sync with the new place the file is. I don't want to have to destroy my way of organizing all of my files to use iCloud. Especially when iWork for the iPhone still doesn't have all the same functions as the one for the mac.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Don't like it.
I guess it is partially though because 3 different people share my account ( long story )

Perfect for me. Seamlessly keeps my basic info sync'd And backed up between iMac, iPad and iPhone. Doesn't meet all my sync needs, so I have to use other cloud services too, but no big deal. If Apple eventually offers equivalent services I might switch those other ones to iCloud too. Or not.

I wouldn't call it "love" but as former MobileMe user I'm fine with how it continue to work for me. If we just could consolidate our accounts (but different story)

That's me for the most part. I always found iDisk to be rather slow and dropbox to be a better cross platform solution.

iCloud has potential but like MobileMe, apple has stumbled out of the gate on this

Between it's lack of features, general clunkiness of the web app, inability to send from non-@me.com e-mail addresses, and the lack of message syncing once the new message has been pushed makes Mail completely unusable for me.

Contact syncing is great with iOS devices, but since Mail is not something that I can use it kind of takes away from the usefulness of contacts.

Using calendar syncing with iOS devices and iCal is great. Everything works as it should and it is obvious that this is what it was built for. The problem comes up when you try to use it with Windows and Outlook. Try sending appointment invitations from Outlook and look at the mess that it creates.

Find my Device works great and should be a must for anyone with an Apple device.

Photostream has potential, but the inability to control your content on a micro level once it hits the stream is a bit ridiculous.

Docs in the Cloud is fundamentally flawed, IMO. Apple's disdain for the file system doesn't really make any sense to me. I like the fact that they want to make computers easy for everyone to use, but dumbing them down to the point where they want to eliminate the file system is a bit much. Docs in the Cloud is just an extension of this (and a poorly executed one when you take into account that the doc syncing doesn't even work to the Mac). Add into this that there have been many posts on this site of docs just simply disappearing from iCloud, and it makes me want to give this a serious look even less.

My overall impression of iCloud is "eh"....at best.

iCloud is a great concept that seems to have been released about 6-12 months to early.

Wherever the army needs me.
I used to pay for MobileMe, same features now on iCloud that are free. I never utilized iDisk since I was a dropbox user long before then, it's demise this year isn't going to mean a thing to me really. So far I'm happy with it, it's my primary email, and syncs everything I need.

I second that, I tried google sync and then moved to MobileMe. iCloud is much improved "working" version of MobileMe i find!

I agree and disagree. The "apps" that form part of iCloud work well like backup, email, calendar and contacts work great and make it very easy to switch phones and start where you left off.

I agree in part that it was released early, as I think it has a lot of potential but needs a lot more functions to it, such as documents needs more freedom, I want to be able to organise files within, add keychain sync, dock sync etc. Once we have the more functions, perfect in my opinion :)
