Hi,
last year I tried out Mobile Me for the 60 days trial and got myself a nice @me.com email. I installed ios 5 today and tried to sign in with the old mobile me email. It says that the account expired because I didn't pay for it (which I didn't). So my question is now what do I have to do in order to use that email. Do I just wait until icloud is officially available since apple turns mobile me into icloud then. Do I have to renew the payment on the mobile me account which sounds like a stupid idea to invest money for since it only lasts for 2 more months.

Any ideas?

I don't think Apple's released enough "definite" information about iCloud for anyone to know the answer to your question. :(

FWIW, MobileMe is not turning into iCloud when iCloud launches this fall. Although it looks like current MobileMe members can move their account over to iCloud, MobileMe will continue to exist as its own separate service until July of next year. (Which is good, since iCloud doesn't offer many MobileMe features, like iDisk + 20GB of online storage for anything, Photo Galleries, or web hosting).

My experience with usernames is this: I signed up for a free .Mac trial when I got my first Mac. Got a sweet, unique username and everything. I let the trial expire. A year or so later, I signed up for .Mac again, and it wouldn't let me reuse my first .Mac username. :(

yea I just registered a second email since I have my doubts that I will get my old back. Also talked to their support but they can't give me any information regarding icloud yet.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/534.32 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

Try signing in the icloud tab not the mobile me one

There were some news articles today about expired MM accounts working in iCloud or something like that.

I agree, it's completely up to Apple what they would do.

But in the past, if you were a MM subscriber, you could recover @me.com or @mac.com addresses, providing you remembered the password.

Now iCloud is a free service, I am not sure if they will continue to implement this feature or not.
