Hey,

I recently bought 50GB and yesterday I tried to compress my photos with izip but only 24 out of 3000 photos appear. Does anyone know why?

Also, If i delete the photos from my iphone then all my photos automatically be deleted from my icloud?

Thank you!

For the former, I am not clear which folder are you compressing.
For the later, yes. Your photo will be deleted from iCloud once you delete it from your iPhone.

If you have "optimize iPhone storage" turned on in Photos, then it will only store low res versions on the phone.
But aside from that, "All photos" is a view, not a "folder".
In my albums section the first folder is calles "All photos"

Yes I have "optimize iPhone storage" activated. Isn't that good?

When I try to export the photos using iZip ony 48 photos appear. I dont know why.

If I were you, assume you are talking about photos on Mac, I would "show package contents" and copy everything to an archive.
But if what you say is iCloud on your iPhone, then, hmm, choose another app for compress.
Update: I tried the free version of iZip. It can properly shows all photos stored on my device. 2800+ in total.
I am running iOS 10 beta 1.
Hope you are using the paid version.

Because you probably only have 48 photos actually on your phone. The rest are thumbnails only. You need to uncheck "optimize storage" if you want full res versions of every photo stored on the phone at all times.

This is actually it! The photos I have on the phone are photos from icloud. When I uncheck the "optimize storage" I dont have enough space left on the phone. I bought 50GB storage to empty some space but obviously it did not work. Any solutions to copy the photos and then delete them to free some space?

I'm a little confused with all the talk about compressing folders. Here's what I would do. Connect your phone to your computer and using the photos app, copy all your photos on your phone to your mac. Any photos you have, add them to your photos library on mac. Now, enable iCloud photo library on your mac. If it runs out of space syncing, I recommend copying your older videos to another folder on your mac, and then deleting them from the photos app and continuing the sync. Do that process until it all fits.

Download all photos from iCloud, save it elsewhere, and delete them from iCloud. But this also means all devices login to the Apple ID containing those photos will delete them as well. Don't know if this is what you want.

This is actually what I want. I bought 50GB iCloud storage to solve the storage problem but it seems that it does not work.

At least this does not work for iCloud Photo library.
Or you can try to turn off iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone and constantly import photos taken from iPhone to your Mac. I think this solution is a bit better.

Can you explain more about "free some space"?

Since you have "Optimize Photo Storage" enabled on your iPhone, your iPhone will only store low-resolution thumbnails of your photos on your phone. These don't usually take up much space. When you tap on one of the thumbnails, your phone will download the full version of the photo, but it only stays around temporarily. You don't have to worry deleting those "to free up some space", your phone will do that automatically for you.

If you ever need to zip up photos (like to email to someone), you can use www.icloud.com from a computer. You'll see all of your pictures, ... you'll be able to select the ones you want, and when you download them, they'll come down in a zip.

Also, If i delete the photos from my iphone then all my photos automatically be deleted from my icloud?
If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, then the master copy of all of your photos "lives" up in iCloud. Any change you make to a photo (like an edit or delete, or organizing them in albums) on a device (like your iPhone) will sync up to iCloud, and then sync back down to your other devices (like your computer, iPad, etc).

It does not allow you to pick and choose which specific photos to sync down to a certain device.

My iPhone is 64GB, and most of it is used for apps and music. My Photo Library is 104GB (40,000 photos and videos). I can access every photo and video from my iPhone. My phone's never run out of space (even when I take a bunch of new photos and videos). For me, iCloud Photo Library has been doing a great job of managing space on the device (by itself).

Thank you! This was really helpful!

The question is, why the photos on the cloud that they appear on my photos section take space from the phone? I didnt get that.

Do you maybe know how to select all the photos on icloud?
If you're talking about www.icloud.com, no. :( I've only seen where you can select them by Moments.

If you have a Mac, you might try creating a new Photos library, enable iCloud Photo Sharing for it, and then enable the option to store full-sized photos on your Mac. Then Photos will be a mirror of your iCloud, and you can use your Mac to do easier photo selection than you can iCloud.com currently.

IMO, iCloud Photos on www.icloud.com is still definitely version 1. Hopefully they'll keep adding new features (like being able to select all, .... although in my case, I have 40,000 photos, so a select all for me could be a bad thing).
