Hello everybody!

Let's introduce our brand new App called: iCoe (In case of emergency)

iCoe -> In case of emergency provides an absolutely fast access to your medical info when your iPhone is locked.

With iCoe all you have to do is push the home button or the power button and swipe down even if the device is password locked.
Only two moves, that's all!

Why iCoe:
Because it's the fastest to reach.
You can set your blood type to: I don't know, if you don't know it of course.
You can switch between Kg and Lbs right from the Widget.
iCoe have a Reanimate option.
iCoe can be installed also to an iPad.

The only thing you got to do is swipe down from the very top of the screen to get access to all your medical info.

In case of emergency, if you get unconscious, rescuers can get your medical info just swiping down from the very top of your iPhone screen even if it's password locked and save your life.

Just so that you know, this is already built in to iOS 8, and works even if you have Notification Center disabled on the lock screen.

  1. Slide to unlock
  2. Tap 'Emergency' at the top of the screen
  3. Tap '* Medical ID' at the bottom left of the screen.

To set it up, go in to the Health app, and tap on the 'Medical ID' tab at the bottom.

Because it's in the same location on all iOS 8 devices, it is more likely to be found than in Notification Center, where the first responder would have to think to bring down Notification Center, and expect it there (which is not at all standard.)

Yes, you're right, but our solution is faster than the Apple one!
And please consider that this sound like why get whatsapp or facebook messenger, or something like that, if you just have iMessage.
Cheers!

Good luck with your app, but aside from accessibility from the notification center, how does this differ from stock functionality?

Not everyone allows access to the notification center from the lock screen, so to get the true functionality of your app, a person has to choose to also have the rest of the notification center exposed...

Or they could use the stock app.

One other point to consider in marketing - information on how to access medical/emergency information gets to the medical folks quickly when it's a standardized function from the manufacturer. Medical personnel now know to swipe right twice from the lock screen on an iPhone, but may not think to look in notifications. You'll need a media blitz to get this aspect of your app known and recognized more universally.

Abe phrased it far more eloquently than I. I don't think either of us are trying to dissuade you from making software, we're just trying to constructively point out where you would need to make improvements.

Had you released this immediately after iOS 7 came out (i.e. as soon as lock-screen Notification Center came out - before Apple implemented Medical ID,) and done a lot of media notification to bring attention to it, you would have been far more likely to be successful with it.

But now that Apple has their own implementation, that has now been out there for many months as the "standard method to see medical information on a locked iPhone," you have lost the advantage. You now have to fight against an established standard - and one that is stock (and free,) to boot.

Again, I hope you don't take this as an attempt to discourage you - on the contrary, you made a useful program - it just happens that Apple beat you to it. I would encourage you to put effort in to something new, that you are the first mover on.

Thanks for your reply.
It's almost the same except our is fastest to reach than Health one and you can switch between Kg and Lbs right from the Today Extension and set your blood type to: I don't know, if you don't know it of course.
In Health App you must know your blood type.
We have a Reanimate option that Health App doesn't have.
Even if our app is not universal, you can get it on your iPad too, Apple Health App is not available on iPad.

With our iCoe app all you have to do, even if the device is password locked, is:
Push the home button or the power button.
Then swipe down.
Only two moves, that's all!

Health App:
Push the home button or the power button.
Then slide to unlock.
Then tap Emergency.
Then Tap Medical ID
Apple side = Four moves.

Lastly we don't collect your medical ID!

Not everyone allows access to the notification center from the lock screen, so to get the true functionality of your app, a person has to choose to also have the rest of the notification center exposed...
You can't have your cake and eat it too!
Notification center is enable by default and most people we asked
doesn't know it's possible to disable it and, most of all, they don't know how to disable it.
It's like the counter part of the Parental Control, it's right there, it comes disable and most users don't enable it, and don't know how, even if they must do it if a device is handle by a kid.
Apple remarks this in its own guide line: First of all think about kids.
But that's another story.
Anyway, you can fill your medical ID in Apple Health App and make it not visible when device is locked.
This feature is a switch on the very top of the Health App medical ID section.

Or they could use the stock app.
Use whatever you like.

Yes you're perfectly right but we don't have a billionaire budget to promote it properly, so we count mainly by word of mouth.

You simply can't dissuade us from making software.

Had you released this immediately after iOS 7 came out (i.e. as soon as lock-screen Notification Center came out - before Apple implemented Medical ID,) and done a lot of media notification to bring attention to it, you would have been far more likely to be successful with it.
Are sure of what you're talking about?!
It wasn't possible before IOS 8 to make your own Today Extension, also known as Widgets, so you are completely wrong.

But now that Apple has their own implementation, that has now been out there for many months as the "standard method to see medical information on a locked iPhone," you have lost the advantage. You now have to fight against an established standard - and one that is stock (and free,) to boot.
"an established standard" are you really sure?
Most people we asked opened Health app just once and then "bury it" in a folder on their last screen on their device.

Again, I hope you don't take this as an attempt to discourage you - on the contrary, you made a useful program - it just happens that Apple beat you to it. I would encourage you to put effort in to something new, that you are the first mover on.
Thank you!
To wake up in the morning with the killler app idea just ready to be implemented is our wet dream!

From your first reply:

Today Extension must go in the Today section of the Notification Center you cannot do differently. Emergency button and Notifications in the Notification Center are completely another story.

Again: Are sure of what you're talking about?!

Except many people (including me, because my phone is provided by work, and they disable it by corporate policy,) disable the notification center when locked.

You're absolutely right that your method requires fewer actions. However your method requires paying for an app. Thus, your method is automatically going to be significantly less prevalent than the built-in method.

I certainly have no intention of attempting to dissuade you from making software, and I don't believe Abe did, either. But now you are taking what is meant as neutral, constructive criticism (that you will have a hard time with this software,) and taking it as a personal attack. It most certainly is not. You seem to be responding as if someone came in and sprayed your campfire with a fire extinguisher. When in fact what we're doing is more like simply pointing out that you're trying to light a campfire with damp wood in a pouring rain.

We're suggesting that you would have more luck with dry wood, under a cover.

But, as you have gotten sarcastic and snide, I will no longer bother your thread with any commentary. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Many could be, certainly not the most!
And many others haven't an Apple device.

We made other apps.
Some are free some not.
We eat every day!

You didn't do a constructive criticism, Abe did.
You've started with a comparison table, or something like that, between iCoe and Health.
Abe asked for features you didn't.
You've have talk to an established standard for Health app, that's your opinion not a constructive criticism.
You wrote about about Apple came first so they beat us even if you simply don't know that Health came with IOS 8 and before that it wasn't possible to develop an extension like iCoe.
All your statements were wrong.
We didn't take your replies as a personal attack, neither as a constructive criticism.
Re-read your first reply to this thread, again you've start writing about Health,
not a question about iCoe as Abe did.
Abe was constructive and criticism, you did not.
That's our opinion.

Thank You!

P.S.
If you want you can drop us a pm and we will provide you a redeem code for iCoe so you'll evaluate it for free
