On my new Ipad Pro, I'm noticing that app icons start flickering as soon as I plug in my charger. I've noticed this only happens when using my Anker Powerline cable with the traditional Apple wall charger. This leads me to believe it's an issue with the cable but being these cables are MFI certified, I wouldn't expect this.

Has anyone else ran into issues with the Anker Powerline cables? Or any issues with icons flickering when charging?

Have you tried using your Apple cable? If it happens with your Anker cable only then... well... that's that, haha. I love Anker, so it sucks to hear this! Thankfully haven't had any issues yet.

Just to provide an update, I bought a different 6ft lightning cable, this time an Anker Powerline 2 and the problem still exists.

Doesn't happen every time but when it does several icons will flicker and then stop. If I was sure it wasn't doing damage to the Ipad I would just live with it but I can't be sure. Next step may be to take it into an Apple store and have them test it. But first I need to see if I can get it to happen with the included lightning cable first.

It is also quite possible that the Apple power adapter is failing, since that was unchanged when you switched to the new cable. I'm sure that if you bring it to an Apple Store they will have a different charging brick that they can swap in for testing, and that may point the finger at the appropriate offending piece of hardware. It seems plausible to me that flickering may be the result of poor voltage regulation out of the power adapter; usually a cable failure can be demonstrated by manipulating the physical configuration of the cable, which doesn't seem to be the case for you.

I thought the same thing, but currently that's the only adapter I have. I figured if I can replicate the issue with the original adapter and cable then I could point to the issue being the adapter or something faulty with the hardware on my Ipad. But so far, no luck.

I'm still under the return period with Best Buy so I'm inclined to just exchange it for another unit altogether just to eliminate the issue entirely.

I have just seen similar behaviour on my first gen iPad Pro 12.9. Connected to my Duracell charger with an Apple cable. The icons get darker for a moment (one at a time randomly) then they switch back to normal. Weird.

Always use inbox accessories. Using third party chargers and cables can damage battery capacity.

Well, I would to use boxes charger for my iPad Pro if Apple proivde me a charger that able to fast charge my iPad Pro. The 12W charger does not cut it.

Apple charges 55 dollars for the 29W USB C charger and other 25 dollars for USB C to lighting cable. This is whole 100 dollars after tax in CAD.

I am not willing to spend extra 100 dollars just to get my iPad charged .

I’m using the including charger. The only thing I’ve replaced is instead of the supplied lightning cable I’m using an Anker Powerline 2 lightning cable. The cable is MFI certified to work with Apple.

I realise this thread is quite old but I also have this problem first with an Anker powerline II and then an anker pwerline III. The Apple cable works fine with MacBook 29 W usb C adapter and two generic (45 W and 30 W dedicated USB C ports) ones and will charge both my iPhone X and my iPad pro 12.9 second generation. But with the same setup using the Anker cables those adapters will only charge my iPhone X and not the iPad Pro. But then at the Apple Store I tried it with the Apple 30 W USB C charger and that one finally worked with the Anker powerline III and charged the iPad Pro. Have been in discussions with Anker and they have been very helpful. I wonder if this is a legacy problem with older 12.9 iPad Pros only? The box says it should work with an 18 W adapter but I suspect they meant that to be the case only for iPhones.

So I am having this issue with my new iPhone 13 pro. I am getting flashing lightning icons and the connect/disconnect sound with my Anker lightning cable. The cable works perfectly fine with my iPad and worked fine with my iPhone 8. Did you ever find out what it was, was it the cable and not a faulty iPad in your case?
