I have a question that probably has a simple answer that I can not find.

When I download a program, and it goes to my desktop, how do i get it to go to the dock and leave the desktop? When i drag it in it stays on the desktop which I dont want, and then when i move the desktop icon to the trash I try starting it from the dock and says it cant start because it is in trash.

Is it possibe to only put it in the dock?

the dock is just an alias to the original. If you want it off the desktop, transfer it to the documents folder or somewhere else out of the way, then, from that location, drag the icon to the dock.

I drag the icon to my Applications folder. That way it will be with all my other aps. From there I drag it down to the dock.

whenever you download a new program, put the app in toy application folder and get rid of the image (put that in the trash). When you open the program it will appear in the dock.....no need to drag it there.
