From time to time some of my icons go "crazy". That is the normal icon is replaced by another icon. For example a couple of Word files will have QTime .mov icon instead.

This only affects a few files from time to time and deleting the icon in the file info panel sorts out the problem. It's a bit of a pain though.

I'm using 10.3.2 on a G3 iBook. Any thoughts?

Cheers
D.

i get stuff like that pretty often myself. it is annoying, but it is purely a cosmetic blemish and i just "get over it".

It's weird. Some people seem to have this problem like crazy, while others, like myself, have never seen it. I wonder if it has anything to do with a certain software installed on the affected machines, since it doesn't seem to affect all Panther users.

Maybe. Any idea which one? :p

And for $159 I don't feel like getting over it

The only time that I see this on either my powerbook or iMac, both running 10.3.2, is when they have been on for an extended length of time, i.e. 5+ days. My iMac, oddly enough, seems to have it happen much sooner then the powerbook. I never turn either computer off, only to sleep. They get a fresh restart usually once a week but only get shut down if I travel.

I have just re-installed panther on my office computer, no icon issues yet, I am wondering if it is something that I installed here. Then again some of my icon misshapes have been web bookmarks replacing disk image, photo icons replacing folder icons... stuff like that.

I would be curios to know when others are noticing the issue.

Interesting. My computer as been running for 4+ days and started messing around this afternoon. Come to think about it, it probably only happens to me after a couple of days uptime.

Maybe it's a sign that I've been working too much :D
