Since installing Tiger (Today) all icons on the desktop have faded slightly and look a little washed out - can anyone help

Did your display brightness or contrast settings change? You need to find out if it is a software issue causing the fading, or hardware.

Or it could be you need to calibrate your display (System Preferences/Displays/Color).
