Is there any way to put icons on the Home Screen right above the fixed icon bar? Always seems like wasted space ?

I had this exact same complaint. It would be nice to have the option, at the very least, to increase the vertical spacing of the app rows so that empty space isn’t just sitting there.
I just got a Pro Max again after going with a 14 Pro the last time around. This was one of the first things I am really missing from the previous bigger phones. You used to always get an extra row of icons on the Plus/Max until iOS 16, when they added the search button/page “dots” above the dock. It really looks weird and such a waste of space on the bigger phones, especially if you have the search button turned off (which I always found redundant, since you can just drag down on the Home Screen to open the search).
