I'd like to see a 26" iMac in the near future. I don't have the greatest eyes and having a larger screen would be perfect. I know I could always get the 30" apple display and a Mac Pro but I love the slimness of the iMac.

they should make a standard 25.5" one, and a baritone 28" one, and then a super-baritone 30" one, pushing into short-scale bass territory...

oh, wait, monitors?

i say 24" is more than enough for normal use, but if you want huge monitors, why not just hook it up to a plasma HD flatscreen? there has to be some way of doing this with the mini dvi output. HD screens are high-resolution, but not 30" computer monitor-style. i´m sure it´s nice enough to cover normal human needs, though :p

it would work well for gaming, i can imagine :p

I dont really know what you're going to see any better with 2 more inches that you wont see on 24 inches.

I agree, the resolution on a 24" iMac would most likely be the same as on a 26" iMac. But then again, I remember when people thought Apple would not release an iMac larger than 20"... :)

It could be worse if the iMac goes to 16:9. 1920·1200 » 1920·1080.

A > 24" iMac, I'd like to see 2560·1440 or 2560·1600.

OP: sounds like a mac mini and 2 large displays would be what you want.

O/T, can someone teach me the meanings to all the numbers listed after tv's and monitors? Is the IMac 1080p? I kind of understand what Im reading, but Ive never seen a scale or chart to really know what Im reading!

You know what might happen?

Apple may in the later future make 16x9 displays which would work for a 26" display.

Essentially the resolution would be 2400x1350. The ratio would be more in line with full length feature films. Sony has done the design with some of their new laptops.

I kind of like that aspect ratio :)

I'd love the slimness of a 26" iMac because I don't need all the power of a Mac Pro, but I'd love to have a big ole screen. :D

I want Apple to keep the iMac the same size, but give me a true desktop. I'd love to have a MINI-TOWER with half the specs of the Mac Pro at half the price......

Oh, sorry, just dreaming there. :D

A 26" 16:9 imac would be cool!

I know this is out of topic but what the chances of new cinema displays being 16:9? would be cool! It annoys be when I watch a movie on my iMac and there is so much wasted space on the top and bottom, would make sense to switch to a 16:9 screen.
