Is this holiday season a good time to buy an Apple TV? Should i pull the trigger and pick up one before the end of the year? Are there any updates on the horizon? I would like to go ahead and buy one soon but if i can wait a month or so until after macworld would that be worth it?

^^^ Why? I doubt you'll see a DVR in those since it'll squash the online store since we'd all rather record our shows than buy them in iTunes (at least I know I would).

Perhaps hard drive increases, but what else?

Nope, but it's been two years since they've done anything to the hardware and a year since they've done anything to the software.

It never hurts to wait.

so.. macworld is in those first two weeks of january, how long do you think the turn around before shipping will be?

from another thread, apparently sams club has them for just over $100. cant beat that price.

yea, wait for macworld. its less than a month away. even though an update at this point is a long shot. it never makes sense to buy a new apple product anywhere near macworld (apple is their own worst enemy with their xmas sales). unless you need to get one for a present, hold off 2 weeks and see if there are any announcements.

I really want to get another 40G for the upstairs, but I'm waiting until late Jan. Macworld will be over, and HDTVs will be even cheaper than they are now...

Patience is always a virtue...

Now, if there is no update at macworld...by all means, go buy one as soon as you can.

There don't seem to be any credible rumors of an update, but it's probably worth waiting unless you're in a hurry. MacWorld would be a good place to announce an update, if they had one in the works. If they dont', what's one more month?
