Can apps launch Youtube videos in the Youtube application? It seems like one big missing link is if an app could both show you a movie's IMDB and also somehow show you its trailer and/or take you to its trailer in another app (i.e. Youtube).

Applications can actually launch youTube videos within their own. This is shown with AOL's Truveo.

I also second an imdb application.

Why not? They have instant viewing of lots of movies.

How would that work? You'd actually download it to your phone (which would take about five hours over-the-air), or have to use an internet host or something (which would drain your battery in about five minutes). I don't know, I just didn't see it possible.

Actually you can do it now, just go to YouTube do a search for "Loose Change" and you can watch an hour and half documentary there. I am sure there are more on there, but that is one I can think of that is full on there.

Anyone else?

I'd love to see it to, but it will never happen as amazon.com owns imdb (that's why all the dvd's link to their store) with amazon mp3 competing vigorously with apple itunes I don't see the two of them getting together to get this done anytime soon.

IMDB + Netflix intergration would be awesome.

I never rent movies, but for those who do this would be terrific too, but for the same reasons, because imdb is owned by amazon, why would they want you to link to rent the dvd at netflix instead of buying it from amazon
