I'm running out of HD space on the atv I wanna get a 1tb or 2tb for it eventually but not in the budget right now. I have a 120gb IDE in an external enclosure would this work for right now? I don't wanna waste the time nodding the atv to take an external drive if it'll be too slow to use. Also will atvusb patch stick maker work for this? Don't wanna spend $50 for atvflash.

IDE (or P-ATA) is just an interface, which is still fast enough for most consumer uses. The ATV uses an HDD with an IDE interface, so another HDD with the same interface will work just fine.

Yeah I figured as much just didn't know if the USB connection would slow it down too much.

im running to the store to get a patch stick cause I cant find mine. shouldnt be bigger then 1gb right? Also is 3.0.2. patchable or am I going to have to go back to 3.0.1.?
