I have an idea for an app that could really change the way people look at connectivity on the iPhone. I know that it can't be done due to the limits on the current SDK. The idea is to have the GPS in the iPhone detect your location and run a script. This could be raise your volume, go to vibrate, connect to wi-fi, turn off 3G, etc. It's really a pity that Apple doesn't allow for background apps.

Took me a minute to figure out what the point was, but I think I like it.

Automatically adjust your settings for work, home, the library, the bar, etc., right?

yeah thats right Heavy Doody

i had an app like this on my mbp, and depending on the wifi network it was connected to, it would change security settings etc

i also had an app like this on my old winmob phone, and when it was 'home' it would turn on bluetooth and automatically sync with my pc

f only GPS were sensitive enough to locate you in individual rooms...

...because it could talk to an external device and set temperature, music, tv show, etc. preferences to the individual room you are in.

That'd be awesome.
