i just had a thought for an app that would let you use the desktop how it should be used

the app would be simple... you would hit an set hot key combination, (one you can change yourself) and your desktop is available to type in notes wherever you want.

this app shouldn't have a dock icon, it should be "invisible" like quicksilver...(the hot key would function the same as quicksilver too)

many of you might say, "just use stickies" i'm looking for a cleaner way, one that doesn't have all these little post it notes all over and also NO DOCK ICON!

if anyone knows of an app like this available please let me know... if anyone knows someone who might be interested in developing this app please let me know.

Konfabulator is the perfect soloution: http://www.konfabulator.com
It has lots of 3rd party widgets, is easy to use, and will do everything you need.

Tiger will also have a feature called Dashboard, which is just like Konfabulator. But seeing as tiger isn't out yet, go for Konfabulator.

not exactly... at least not that i have found

konfabulator note widgets put ugly looking windows on my desktop that sometimes desktop files get under and i have to spend time moving around. not to mention that ugly little konfab uitility icon in the top right corner. that said right now i am using one of those widgets, because its the only thing thats good enough.

also, when dashboard comes out, the abilities it has will be just as good as i'm talking about.... but we'll see. its not for just under a year anyway.

you can go to the widget prefs and set the level to "desktop" and then all the file icons will be above the widgets

i've tried desktastic, but it just does work well for me

thanks, i checked out putting them at desktop level, that works pretty well for now
