I was sitting in my living room one day, playing some games on my Macbook Pro, just doodling around, and I stopped for a second to stretch and look around.

Then I realized,
That there's this big 'ol TV sitting in front of me that's connected to an Apple device.
So I started wondering...

Would be possible at all, to use my Apple TV as some kind of wireless display for my MBP.

Any ideas? Has this been done? Can it be done?
I'm talking about an Apple TV (which I have no problem hacking,) A MacBook Pro, and an Airport Extreme. All of which are connected up and fully speaking to each other.

Thoughts?

Yes indeed, I also wish for the same thing...

On my iMac I can access any form of entertainment that I want - from online tv feeds via my browser to downloaded shows...

If the iTV was capable of showing what I can see on my iMac display onto my TV I would be perfectly happy...That is all I need (just a means to wireless transfer what I can see on my computer to the TV).

I'm not worried about remote control etc, as I can start the show on the computer, and then sit back in front of the TV...

If anyone has any idea on how to do this then I would be incredibly grateful...Thanks...

If it were possible to screen share your mac via your AppleTV it won't be very good for watching anything. The framerate of Remote Desktop/Screen Sharing (or worse...VNC) is really low and only serves the purpose of basic UI interactions like clicking and navigating.
