Ideal hard drive setup.

I've recently acquired a 2.66Ghz Mac Pro 1,1. The most intense work I do is photo editing with Photoshop; other than that I do some web development and very rarely some video editing. I've been using a 2008 MacBook Pro, so my hard drive choices have always been very limited. Now that I've got the space for more, I'd like to use it wisly. So, what would be the best way to use the four hard drive bays in the Mac Pro? Fast boot drive? Fast scratch disk? RAID0 something? Something super-cool that I havent even thought of?

The fastest is all SSD's. The sweet spot for cost and speed would be SSD boot and a 1TB+ data drive or 2x1TB+ RAID0 with data/ home directory on it. Make sure you have equal HD space somewhere else to backup that RAID0.

How much RAM does the Mac Pro have? What size images do you normally edit? The Mac Pro will take up to 4 individual drives, you can do RAID but without a RAID controller card, it will be software RAID which is not the most ideal. You can dedicate a partition on a separate drive as a scratch disk if you want, but if you've been getting by on a Mac Book Pro, I think you'll be fine on the MP as long as it has a good amount of memory, 8GB at least I would think.
