I have two folders, one in mac hard disk and one in parallels win-xp virtual hard disk, that I want to have them identical to each other.

From time to time, I want to copy all the new or updated files from mac to parallels. Something like doing a synchronism, the way I want it.

How can I do it?

The last several public betas of Parallels has drag and drop file copy. So, it might be as easy initially dragging the folder from the "Mac" to Parallels, creating an identical copy. Then, when you want to sync, just drag the contents from OS-X to the corresponding folder in Parallels.

I use drag and drop. But it is not what I want.
My folders contain files with 2gb size.
So if I have to copy paste using drag and drop everytime I want in parallels the same folder of mac os x, it will take ages to be copied.
I do it with 400mb files and it takes about 10minutes.
For a 2gb files I estimate it will take 30-40minutes.

I would like to hear there is a smart way doing this task.

I'm not sure what options there are, if you want to have separate files (syncing).

If they don't need to be kept separate, then you might try enabling shared folders in your VM. They will show up as a network drive, under "Parallels Shared Folders". This will allow both OS-X and the VM OS access to the same files.

Shared folders?

I am completely confused.

I have a 2gb dmg that I mount everytime I login to mbp.
I do it because I have this dmg protected with password.

I would like to mount it, mac os x will see it like a normal drive and every file management task is ok, as in normal non-dmg files. Once mounted, then everything is normal with its internal files.

Then I would like to synchro this mounted dmg with its files to a folder inside windows xp/parallels.

How can I find a workaround to synchro these two big-sized folders between mac os x file system and parallels/win xp? Something like smart copying from mac os x files only the files that have changed or are newly created, to win xp/parallels?

Shared folders? Something else?
I hoped parallels had a utility to synchronise files between mac os x and windows xp.

But if you synchronize two folders (one on the DMG and one in the XP virtual disk), you are copying the files. Maybe I missed something there.

If you shut down XP, then go to Parallels configuration editor, there is a Shared Folder resource. Mount your DMG, then enable shared folders and add it (or the folder on it) to the list.
