Hey MacRumors,

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is going to be a MAJOR update to iDice coming out in the next couple of days. A lot of work has gone into this update. We are happy to announce a couple new features to iDice.

Here is an image illustrating the changes to iDice.

The 1st thing I want to talk about is that the entire app was completely re-written from scratch. It is now much more optimized, uses less memory, and runs quicker.

We changed the icon to better flow with the iPhone home screen. Instead of a plain white die, it is now a nice blue glass die.

We changed the color scheme of the game. Leaving the mono-tone red background for a more streamlined blue/black/grey look.

The user interface has been revamped. Bringing the roll button to the bottom of the screen, and closer to your thumbs. The screen is now more uniform with scoring buttons, instead of just text.

You can now score the 100 point Yahtzee bonus (scored for getting multiple Yahtzees in a single game.)

There were a number of scoring bugs that have been fixed in v2.0 of iDice.

And the last thing we want to talk about, is probably the biggest upgrade of all. Up until this point the high score table would only store the top 5 scores done on your device. Well, no more! Now the high scores are global. No longer do you have to compete against only those who have access to your iPhone or iPod touch. Now you can compare your high scores against the rest of the world. These high scores can also be seen online by visiting the iDice website.

We hope to see the new iDice in the App Store in a couple of days.

I got the game. Even before the update, it was the best 99 cent version of "Y" in the app store.
One thing, that "Roll" button is too close to those dice you tap to hold. I've rolled twice when I really just wanted to place dice on hold.

Something else. How can one get a top high score of 9XX in this game?

Thanks for the kind words. We originally had the roll button switched with the rolls remaining text, but it was much more common to tap the highscore button inadvertantly that way, then it was to roll when trying to hold dice. With limited screen space its tough to get everything to fit neatly without somethings being close. I'll take a peak and see if anything can be scooted around to give a bit more space between the roll button and the dice.

There is a scoring bug (update is already in review fixing this) which allows too many yahtzee bonuses to be scored. That score has been removed though.
