One of the main ways in which I used to use my old iDisk was to send large files to people.

I would just drop the file into my iDisk folder, then right click on the download link on the iDisk webpage, copy the link location, then send it to the recipient. They click on the link and the file starts downloading instantly, without giving them access to anything else in my iDisk.

Since the changeover to Mobile Me, I have not been able to do this. It doesn't give you the option to copy the link location

Can anyone help, or tell me a better way of doing this?

Thanks

thats a missing feature that was announced on wwdc08. i hope apple will deliver it soon.

atm you have to move your files to your public folder and use the web tool to download it again.

user: public
password: the one you set up (if you did so)

I created a folder called 'Downloads' under the Web/Sites/ directory. I put files there and when I share files with my friends the link looks like:

web.me.com/*username*/downloads/*filename*

It's pretty ghetto. I kind of wish that sharing feature from the Keynote presentation was working.

That DOES NOT link to my public folder, but:

"http://idisk.mac.com/username-Public" does.

Has to have the capital P (I havn't tired changing the folder name to a lowercase p

As for a web tool, I set it as a network place on my brothers PC and he can access it without needing the WWW so we can share files. (He lives in a doferent city

This is done by setting "http://idisk.mac.com/username/Public" as the location. (note the backslash harther than hyphen)
