what are the pros and cons? I want to start moving to the cloud but would like to start off on the right path.

I have both, but DropBox is so easy to use on any platform it is ridiculous
Apps for iPhone and iPad as well
And it it integrates with a number of other Apps

I don't know why anybody wouldn't have a FREE DropBox, even for just occasional use

I have found iDisk to be slow and unreliable, although it's better now than it was a few years ago. Dropbox on the other hand is just like MacDawg says. I would go so far as to say that Dropbox is the best utility I've ever used.

Dropbox is simply amazing and it gets better all the time. I really love how they are adding customer suggested features so quickly.

If you are not interested in the other features of MobileMe, I would stick with Dropbox. 2 GB is free and can get 50 GB/year for $99. Same price as MobileMe.

Thing is, MobileMe offers a whole lot more than Dropbox. Dropbox is amazing at what it does and I think everyone would agree since it is extremely easy to use multiplatform it is easier to use.

How safe is dropbox? I feel like people shouldn't be putting sensitive documents and files in something like that. Please enlighten me :)

Another vote for Dropbox. Slick, multiplatform and reliable. iDisk is neither slick, multiplatform or reliable. I've lost data at least once using iDisk. It's the most un-Apple like product that Apple puts its logo on.

Dropbox is my favorite of all of them. Live Mesh is good too, free 5GB vs. 2GB but no iOS apps.

iDisk has been unreliable and problematic for me.

Mobile me really doesn't offer that much more to be honest. I'm thinking of ditching it and going to dropbox exclusively. Almost everybody has an email already syncd to their iPhones - why would they need MobileMe to do that?

The biggest portion of what mobile me should be is the storage and sharing. They lack in that area big time.

I've said this before on the forums but dropbox is the absolute best way to go. Great iOS apps, actually reliable compared to mobileme and I love that I can access it from Pages on the ipad. Like someone said above it's dumb not to have a free account. And I don't want to come off like I'm selling anything but if anyone was thinking about signing up for dropbox, use the link on the bottom so that you get a little extra space for free.

My current dropbox project is trying to figure out how to backup my entire drive onto it. If anyone has any links to others doing the same let me know.

My only problem with dropbox is that you cant not save files into it from pages on the iPad. Other than that, it is the perfect way to sync your data.

I use a few different once depending on what I do
for pictures best is "transfer"
I also use "Print n share"
but if you ask me what is easier and which I like better of the 2 of yours .......I must say dropbox. Userfriendly and faster !

Live Mesh by Microsoft is very good I must say. Despite the lack of consistency in its products (Microsoft has 3 sync features / clouds not connected with each other!), Microsoft made a good job with Live Mesh for Mac. Unlike Dropbox, you can choose folders that you want to sync and it will keep monitoring them.

A couple of months ago Dropbox 1.0 was released with support for selective syncing. You can choose the folders you want to sync on your computer.

I just installed it but I still don't see such possibility.
You can choose only folders that you want to sync from DB to your computer, but you can't choose the folders that you want to sync from your PC to DB...

Yes, that isn't possible.

Another vote here for Dropbox. Dropbox also allows you to send links to download files to friends / family which is really useful to send large files that would not be possible with e-mail. Dropbox also allows you to recover an earlier version of the file, which is very handy if you accidentally overwrite an existing file.

Dropbox pwns iDisk 100x

iDisk is slow and unreliable, and I hate that. Anyone who gets a MobileMe subscription only to use iDisk is a real sucker.
