What does the iDog do? It looks cute and I can get it for $15 but not sure what its suppose to do

I got one for Christmas. Basically, you can plug your iPod or other device into it's headphone jack with the included cable and it lights up and dances to the music while it plays through the internal speaker, or you can use the internal microphone on it to do the same. It's a cool little toy and matches most Apple products.

They were selling well in Japan when I was there. They were plentiful in the windows of toy stores and I was tempted to buy one even before I knew what exactly they did.
