IE5.2 for Mac flaky with Javascript?

😕 Running reliably in the Microslop(sic) world a IE based app just doesn't behave properly when running on System 10 IE5.2. It runs without error -- but buttons don't enable when they should via javascript as well as other less important things like <font color= changes via javascript.

Can anyone direct me to a resource that provides caveats or outright "Don't do this in IE5.2 for mac" sites?"

Someone mentioned Safari. Is that more reliable/known to handle javascript properly?

IE for Mac is flaky in every respect, and no longer is being developed. Maybe you should look in the IE prefs, there might be something about turning Javascript on or off.

IE for Mac is unreliable at pretty much everything... Javascript/DHTML/CSS

Microsoft stopped supporting and updating it a while ago, which is unfortunate since Apple included it with OS 9, and I believe also with earlier versions of OS X - so a lot of Mac users still have it and use it.

At my old job I had access to O'Reilly's Javascript book, and it had a decent list of Javascript features and included notes on what browsers did/did not support them, so you might try that.

why people are still using IE for mac is beyond me. i'm assuming that you're running 10.1 (it was a free upgrade from 10.0), in which case you will be able to use mozilla firefox which is pretty bleeding-edge in terms of features and support. safari requires at least 10.2.

When I use IE, it is not because I want to use it. I use IE because some sites are incompatible with anything else except IE. If you don't encounter those kinds of sights, more power to you. However, if you have to deal with them, you are SOL without IE.
