if anyone uses Google Hangouts, do you hear ringing when you call another Hangout user?

I have this issue on three different iphones: iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone SE(old version).

When I use Google Hangouts to call another Google Hangout user, I do not hear ringing. It's just dead silence until the other person picks up...

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Hangouts app on all three iPhones and the problem is still there.

If I'm using Hangouts to call a regular landline/mobile number, then I do hear the usual ringing, until someone picks up.
