Rumors are swirling that the next Pro versions of the iPhone will cost $100 more this year. I'm already 95% certain I am sticking with my 14 Pro, this would be the icing on the cake for me. I am excited for USB-C but I can wait a year or so. Anyone else sitting the 15 Pro/Max out with a possible price hike?

Same rumors swirled around for the 13 and 14, neither of which were true. I shall only believe it when Apple announces it. But to answer your question, no, price is not what would stop me from upgrading. If the phone is not much different then at that point I wouldn't upgrade. I'm on the IUP so $100 is only $4 a month.

I'm planning on upgrading my iPhone X to a 15 Pro Max and I don't mind paying the unconfirmed $100 price increase if it actually happens.. My X lasted 6 years and if I get that from the 15 Pro Max it's worth it IMO..
LOL, I'd say your upgrade is definitely earned.

Im sure in Canada it's gonna be well more than just $100, especially with the conversion rate. For the first time I decided to buy in iPhone just 2 months before the new one came out. I upgraded to the 14 pro max, last month.

If I were planning on upgrading then an extra $100 would not concern me. I usually handle upgrades with my carrier's monthly payment plan.

But short of a windfall this year, I just paid off two 11 Pro Max iPhones and an SE2 in February/March. I have about 10 months to go on another SE2. So, we're on these current phones for a while yet.

I went with the 11 PM when the 12 series was new and the 13 series was six months away. The sales rep wasn't happy. :)

We are indeed coming up on the iPhone X six year anniversary.

And while I am leaning towards finally upgrading to a more modern iPhone, it’s far from a certainty. Primarily, the RAM amount is beginning to show its limits, forcing me to more carefully manage — I have OCD/OCPD — what apps remain in the background (i.e., in the app/task switcher) if I want a proper app resume experience. Additionally, the vastly better camera system and increased performance would be useful and welcomed. Nonetheless, my iPhone still does what I need/want it to do. So, the replacement decision remains one of “would like” rather than of necessity — relatively speaking, of course, as no one needs an iPhone. :)

My plan is to wait for refurbished units to land. However, that path is completely unknown. For example, with only iPhone 12 models (i.e., no iPhone 13 or 14) currently offered in the refurbished section, there might not be enough stock of refurbished units for Apple to actually offer them for purchase any time soon after launch.

My plan two years ago became buying a couple models back while still getting what I wanted. I would have liked to get the 12PM at the time, but for what I wanted it would have been an extra $50 a month (two phones) in payments. To stay within what I was willing to accept payment wise, I would have had to settle for what I didn't want.

So that became the plan. There's a certain time period where T-Mobile (my carrier) is selling a current model iPhone and an older model iPhone before the new model launches. I'll probably end up with the 15PM (or whatever it will be called) about a few months before the 17 series launches.

Assuming the 15 series has flat sides though. I've had my fill of round-sided phones.

Oh. The upshot of buying this way from my carrier is that, despite buying two models back, the phone is brand new.

I’ll be annoyed but not surprised if it’s $100 more

That wouldn’t be what deters me from an upgrade - more that my 14 pro max has been performing well and can’t believe already getting close to that time of year

Doesn’t mean I won’t upgrade I always keep an open mind but already leaning towards not

IF the features are worth upgrading then the price will become secondary for me…
I’ll wait til the actual announcement until I have all FACTS and decide

If I were to upgrade my 14 Pro Max, I wouldn’t be mad about the $100 price increase. I save for the new iPhone the year before I upgrade and always save an extra $200 just in case there‘s a price increase.

After 4.5 very happy years with my iPhone 7 Plus, I'm overdue an upgrade. Under the right conditions, I'd gladly pay $1,600 for a iPhone 15 Pro Max Ultra model.

To balance out a price increase, the IRS should grant companies a few years tax relief to move production out of China.
